Does anyone know if it is true that individuals in Tanzania are not allowed to personally own land, because all land is owned by the government? I heard that an individual may apply for a 99-year land lease from the government, but may have the lease revoked if they do not do something productive with the land within the first 3 years of the lease. I also heard that only Tanzania citizens may lease land in Tanzania.
Any insights that anyone may have on land "ownership" in Tanzania would be appreciated. Asante!
