The Kamusi Project is seeking a student intern with an interest in business AND African languages to help develop and implement a financial sustainability plan.
The intern will work online from his/her own computer (no travel involved), in constant internet communication with other members of the Kamusi Project team in Africa, Europe, and the US.
The position is unpaid, and hours are negotiable. Rewards will include letters of reference, solid experience for the résumé, some cool Kamusi swag, and exciting and satisfying work on the cutting edge of African language technology development. (The position might transition to a
paid part-time job during the next academic year.)
Specifically, the intern will be involved in developing and implementing a business model that will help insure the financial stability of the Kamusi Project as it expands to serve multiple African languages. The intern will help:
* identify revenue streams that harmonize with the project's commitment to providing a free and accessible web resource to the public (eg, online merchandising)
* identify and build relationships with advertisers relevant to the project audience
* help develop a "sponsor-a-word" subscription program
* identify and create relationships with websites that can embed project services in their native format on a subscription basis
Please send letters of interest and résumés to codeafrica at kamusiproject dot org
